Fishing Charters – in the Queen Charlotte Sounds

This fishing charter is a great option for those who want to take a group of friends or family out for half a day’s fishing in the Queen Charlotte Sound.You will venture a little further and see some of the spectacular scenery that the Marlborough Sounds is famous for.

MV Tory is a 35-foot vessel designed specifically for fishing in the Marlborough Sounds. It has good cover and is suitable for all ages.

All fishing gear, tackle and bait (along with our local and experienced skipper) is included in the charter price.

Departure times are flexible – either morning or afternoon. The choice is yours, providing someone hasn’t beaten you to it!

At certain times of the year blue cod is catch and release only (see regulations below).  Note this is smoke-free vessel.

8 hour fishing charter in the Queen Charlotte Sound

If you enjoy fishing and are keen to get out a little further than most to find your catch, then this full-day fishing charter is for you! Bring your own refreshments – or if you feel you need to step back on land for a bite, then the Queen Charlotte Sound offers a range of great resorts for lunch.

This fishing trip may include venturing out to locations such as Port Gore, Jordy Rocks and Ship Cove. These itinerary options are all weather-dependent on the day.

The main regulations you need to know about fishing for blue cod in the Marlborough Sounds are:

• The season is open every year from 20 December – 31 August (both days inclusive).
• The season is closed every year from 1 September – 19 December (both days inclusive).
• You can only take or possess 2 blue cod per fisher at any one time.
  This applies even if you caught the fish from outside the area and you
  are transporting the fish through the area.
• You can only have blue cod that are a minimum of 33cm (no maximum). We make it a
  priority to remain familiar with all relevant regulations, and abide by
  them – so we can help you with any questions you may have about your

Please Note – our charter prices are based on 1–6 people travelling, and an additional NZD$70.00 per extra person applies for up to 10 people.
